#29 Springvale Little Athletics Centre. Established September 1968
HISTORY
On September 24th 1968 the Springvale Little Athletics Centre was established, and four clubs were formed.
The clubs were St. Joseph’s Little Athletics Club, St. Anthony’s Little Athletics Club, Noble Park Little Athletics Club and Springvale South Little Athletics Club.
The centre number - 29 - depicts that Springvale Little Athletics Centre was the 29th Little Athletics Centre affiliated with Victorian Little Athletics Association - Geelong LAC being number 1.
The first day of Springvale Little Athletics competition was held in November 1968 at Ross Reserve on a grass track. The first President was Mr Gordon Austin with Mr Roy Reynolds as Secretary.
In the 1970s the Springvale area was experiencing a population growth, with over 800 athletes competing at the centre.
As a result, the centre formed internal clubs which comprised of their own financial committees to help run a competition more efficiently. In 2007 the internal clubs were merged and became united under Springvale Little Athletics.
